I wrote this song in late September but I hesitated for a long time. I didn't know what others would think because it is so personal. It encompasses a lot of feelings I've had about where I come from and how I am constantly inspired by the stories of resilience I grew up listening about my grandparents and great grandparents in Guerrero, Mexico. Una Semilla/A Seed, as I've decided to title it, was purposely written in Spanish so that I can share it with my family. In the making of the video, I used a recording I had of my mom talking about her grandfather who would pick pomegranates for her when she was little and knew exactly where to pick them even though by those last years of his life he was blind. ~~~ Before posting the video, I sang it for a lively young crowd at the 38th Annual Raza Day on November 1st. Although it was my second year performing at Raza Day, I was pretty nervous to test out the song for the first time in front of a large audience. I think they really enjoyed the message. And here is just a picture of me on filming day. YES, I like to be comfortable whenever possible. It was raining all morning so I took a chance and filmed the song in the rain because I felt like that helped bring something essential to the song as the song says, "y con tierra y con lluvia, dara mas vida" / "with soil and with rain, will bring more life" Hear & download the song at :https://soundcloud.com/anataliavallez/una-semilla
